LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL – Notification of Funchal Street Construction
A letter was distributed on Thursday, November 20, to all students, regarding
the road construction that will begin on Monday, November 26, on a portion
of Funchal Street that fronts our school.  If your child did not share this letter
with you, please open and read the attachment below.

Traffic Letter

Please note that this construction project should not interfere with cars  driving
into and exiting out of our school parking lot, but we urge all drivers to exercise
extreme caution and to remember to drive with aloha.  Thank you for your

9TH GRADE REGISTRATION materials for current KMS 8th graders will be
distributed on Wednesday, November 28, to students who are currently projected
to attend a Honolulu district high school.

Registration materials will also be distributed to those who indicated that they
intend to apply for a GE (Geographic Exception) to McKinley and/or Farrington
High School.  Please note that Roosevelt registration cards will not be provided to
students who are applying for a GE to Roosevelt at this time.  They will receive
registration cards to complete if their GE is approved in April.  Students who
are projected to attend high school in the Windward, Central, or Leeward districts
will receive their materials during the second semester.

All current 8th graders must register for their home district high school. Students
who are applying for a GE to McKinley or Farrington may submit a registration
card with their GE application. Please be aware that submitting a registration card
and GE application to these schools does not guarantee admission.

Completed and signed registration cards are due to AA teachers by
Friday, December 7.

Only current KMS 8th graders will be allowed to pick up GE application forms from
the school main office now.  All other grades may pick up GE forms after January 1.
The GE application deadline is March 1, 2019.

When the leftover turkey is all put away, join the KMS Band as they march in
the holidays at:
                            Liliha-Palama Christmas Parade
                                   Friday, November 23
                                    5:30 in the evening

Parade route: Down Liliha Street; right on King Street until Kokea Street.

KEEP ON CLIPPING – KMS is a Box Tops School
Check all your Thanksgiving market purchases for BOX TOPS FOR
EDUCATION coupons.  Have your child clip them out and turn them in
to their AA class now. The AA class with the most BOX TOPS wins a
class party!

BRAT FREE-DRESS DAY  Friday, November 30
All students with no
Behavior Referrals, Absences, or Tardy days during
the month of  November will be awarded a free-dress sticker which must
be placed on the back of their ID card.

Free-dress day students are not required to wear their KMS uniform
t-shirt, but must still adhere to the KMS dress code (see pages 14-15 of
the Student Planner). Let’s all try to  display good behavior and attain
perfect attendance.
