NEW LEADERSHIP AT KMS
With the recent retirement of Principal Ann Sugibayashi, the Hawaii Department
of Education has begun a search for a new principal to lead Kawananakoa Middle
School.  Our school was very fortunate to have Ms. Maureen Dunn, on temporary
assignment, to guide the school during this first quarter of the school year.

Effective October 8, Ms. Veronica Victor will assume the same role until a permanent
principal is selected.  All students received a letter in their AA class from HIDOE
Complex Area Superintendent, Ms. Linell Dilwith, regarding the temporary
assignment of Principal Victor.  Please have your child share the letter with you or
open the attachment below.

CONGRATULATIONS MR. HANKINS!
The State of Hawaii Department of Education recently announced the selection
of  KMS science teacher, Mr. Sam Hankins, as the 2019 Honolulu District
Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Hankins will be recognized, along with other district
winners, at a special ceremony at Washington Place.  Thank you Mr. Hankins
for your outstanding dedication to our school and students.

FIRST QUARTER KMS NEWSLETTER was distributed to all students on Wednesday.
Please ask your child to share it with you.

MAHALO FROM KMS PTSA – Thank you for volunteering!
The PTSA Campus Beautification project was an overwhelming success with
over 100 students, parents, faculty and community organizations  giving up
their Saturday morning to clean, paint, weed and spruce up our campus.

Special thanks to Boy Scout Troop 201 and  International Union of Painters
and Allied Trades District Council 50 led by Mr. Ryden Valmoja,  for joining
us in refreshing our campus buildings and grounds.

We hope everyone is enjoying the new splash of red paint on the cafeteria
and A building. This is just the beginning of a PTSA three-year project to
spread our school colors across the whole campus.

Please join us at future events!
