KMS Update 08/02/2019



Aloha parents and guardians of Kawananakoa Middle School,

As we prepare for the new school year, we would like to share some important information about our school. If your child is attending Kawananakoa Middle School for the first time, (not a returning student) please join us tomorrow evening:

                                                             Friday, August 2, 2019

                                                                Kawananakoa Auditorium

                                                                5:00 to 6:30 in the evening

This is a program for the benefit of parents and guardians. Students do not need to attend, but are welcome to join us.


First day of school: 

Monday, August 5 – all 6th graders and any other students attending KMS for the first time.  Student should report to their AA class by 8:00 a.m. Please be on time.

Tuesday, August 6 – All students – report to AA class by 8:00 a.m.

Additional reminders for all students:

  • Please wear your school uniform – uniform t-shirts will be sold in the cafeteria from 7:30 a.m. on August 5 (Mon) and August 6 (Tues).


  • ID/Yearbook photo – students who did not take their photo on Prep Day, may do so on Tuesday, August 6 in the back of the auditorium.  Students may bring a top or shirt to change into for the photo only.


  • Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 7:15 a.m. Students who did not yet give a finger scan for meal services, may still purchase breakfast.


  • Infinite Campus Parent Portal (electronic grade book system) – Grade 6 students will receive their login info and activation keys (for parent accounts) in late August in their AA class.


  • Deadline to request change of elective(s) is Friday, August 9, 2019. Requests must be made in writing and signed by the child’s legal parent/guardian.  All requests made by the deadline will be reviewed, but it is not guaranteed that a change will be made.


  • Census Verification Report forms will be distributed to all 6th graders in their AA class on Monday, August 5.  Parents are asked to review the demographic information, make any changes if needed, sign the form and have your child return it to their AA class teacher by Thursday , August 8.


  • Students are encouraged to bring a bottle or flask of water.  Please do not
    bring your school supplies to school until you are instructed to do so by your teachers.
