(See attached file: HIDOE Parent Ltr on safety.pdf)

Please note that our Kawananakoa Student Association (KSA) is planning an organized 17 minute “walkout” on Wednesday, March 14, to honor the 17 victims of the recent Florida high school shooting.  Students who decide to participate will be asked to congregate in a designated meeting place.

GT/STEM TEAM COMPETES IN UH ENGINEERING FAIR
KMS Gifted and Talented/Science, Technology, Engineering and Math classes once again brought home top awards for their outstanding competition results in the annual University of Hawaii Engineering Fair.  Congratulations to Mr. Hankins and his team for their outstanding performance. Please read more about our Ali’i Warrior student engineers in our upcoming KMS newsletter.

LEARN WHY PTSA NEEDS YOU – Attend a KMS PTSA meeting and learn how to join and become more involved in the success of our students and school. Meet current board members and find out why having an active PTSA is so important.  The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, at  5:30 pm in the school library.

If you are interested in applying for a board position, or if you would like to nominate someone, please email KMS PTSA at comms@kawananakoaptsa.org or call Ann Yasui, PCNC, at (808) 307-0300 during school hours.

SAVE THE DATE – PTSA Cybersecurity Presentation  Thursday, March 29
Please join our KMS PTSA for an open discussion on what parents can do to safeguard our children from the dangers of the internet.  Mr. Loren Aquino, KMS parent, KMS alumnus, COO and Principal Analyst at HI Tech Hui cybersecurity consulting firm, will share ways to keep the family cybersecure.  Please don’t miss this important PTSA event.

Also, that evening, while parents and guardians are in the cybersecurity presentation, students will be treated to a movie. More information about the events for the evening will be shared in the next KMS Update.

TEACHERS’ WISH LIST – Help our teachers, help our students!
