GEOGRAPHIC EXCEPTION (GE) FORMS DUE – If you would like to requesta GE to another school for next school year 2019-20, applications are due byFriday, March 1, in the KMS main office. Parents, please be sure to sign the application, include a current proof of residence (electric, water, or cable billin a parent’s or guardian’s name), and provide a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Forms are available from our school main office (Building A, second floor) or go online to print a form GE Request Form.


Congratulations to our many hardworking students who have been participating in a variety of competitions with outstanding results and mahalo to the faculty members who have been guiding them.

2019 Honolulu District Science Fair – Six out of twelve KMS science projects developed by KMS students who competed in the District level fair, have been selected to move on to the State level competition. Go Ali’i Warriors!

Hawaii PTSA Reflections Arts Competition – KMS students had an outstanding showing at this state level program that will lead to national competition.

MathCounts Chapter CompetitionKMS Math-letes persevered and received

a “Special Recognition Award” for their efforts as they took 11th place out of 26

competing schools. Participating members included:  Aileen Kekumu, Jayce 

Labuguen, Jian Wei Liang, Stanley Lon, Anlon Mao and Mei Ting Shi. Xing

Hui Li was the team’s top scorer, finishing 60th out of 245 total participants.


BINDER CHECK REMINDER – Friday, March 1, will be the last study hall binder check

for the 3rd Quarter. See below – helpful hints for using a calendar/agenda (which

should be kept at the front of the binder).


KMS DANCE TEAM COMPETES today at the Blaisdell Concert Hall at 6:00 pm.

Cheer on our first-year team of 21 dancers coached by Ms. Izumoto. $10 admission at the box office.

KEEP ON CLIPPING – Box Tops Competition

Check all your market purchases for BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION coupons.

Have your child clip the Box Tops  out and submit them  to AA in an envelope

or zip lock bag, with student’s first and last name, number of Box Tops, and

AA classroom clearly noted.  The AA class with the most BOX TOPS wins a

class party!

Parent School Quality Survey (SQS) forms were distributed to all students.

As part of our on-going school improvement process, we need your input

and feedback about our school. Please complete the survey and submit it

in the postage-paid envelope – postmarked no later than March 15.

Your child also received an orange ticket that can be returned with your

child’s name, AA classroom#, and your signature indicating your completion

and mailing of the survey. Please have your child return the orange ticket

to the school office to qualify for a small appreciation prize.

If you need another SQS packet, please request one at our school main office.

TEACHERS’ WISH LIST – Help our teachers, help our students! Mahalo to

the many KMS families who continue to support KMS in the classroom.

Team 7A teachers (Ms. Guardino, Mr. Reed, Ms. Togashi, Ms. Yamane,
